When Paul joined the International Socialists in 1963, it printed – and Paul was soon editing – a monthly paper called Labour Worker. The paper changed its name to Socialist Worker in 1968 and started appearing weekly. Four years later, Paul was persuaded to join the staff of the paper during the great political upheavals of 1972. He briefly edited the paper from 1974 but stood down the following year, although he continued to work there until 1978. After he left, he continued to write for the paper for the rest of his life.
